We wanted a cute Sunday together; perhaps a walk, somewhere National Trust, maybe take piggy out.. Then we saw there was a 90% chance of rain. So, we did a little brain storming and compromised. Dry inside the car, but still outside. Still, most importantly, surrounded by animals.
Knowsley Safari Park was somewhere I've always wanted to visit, for as long as I can remember. It's a little wonder why I haven't thus far, given it is only 30 minutes away. But aged 23 & 24, we visited.
We drove around & saw bambis, lions, tigers, rhinos & other hilariously but unforgettably named at this moment in time animals. We watched the sea lion show with far too much enjoyment & expression, much more than the other heards (apt) of families. Sam actually contemplated buying posters of Roger & Albert (delightful lil talented flapping flippered fellas) to cover his bedroom in.
My favourite part of the day was the sticker book & map. Yes I'm 23. Nothing was better than having a sheet of glorious animals & their hideous names, picking one out for each of us & going 'thats u'. Sam spent the day walking around with a rhino sticker which perfectly reflects his personality and reinforces the fact that its probs 2 tonne yet still not as heavy as Sam.
A (very) swift visit into the bat cave saw me pull my turtle neck up to my eyeballs, squeal like a lil pig & cause the bat keeper (?) to shine a red light on some bananas to chill the bats out. Not my finest hour. Defo not for me.
It does frighteningly look like a Dad & Daughter day out. Think I'll gift him some of that anti-wrinkle fact lift tape or a strong moisturiser for valentines as a not so subtle hint.
